Illinois Natural History Survey - University of Illinois

Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (EPT)

stoneflyThe Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) maintains some of the largest and most historically significant collections of the aquatic insect orders Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (EPT) in North America, groups that have long been recognized as containing some of the most sensitive indicators of biotic integrity in flowing water ecosystems. Efforts to build the collection began in the 1860's and continue to the present. The INHS' considerable holdings of type specimens and other historically significant material for North American EPT species results in a heavy demand for loans of specimens and requests for information on the distribution of these collections.

The EPT homepage and its related contents undergo constant development, please be patient.
