Eulichadidae
Eulichadid Beetles
The family Eulichadidae is poorly known even among water beetle specialists. Larvae are aquatic, while adults are terrestrial. Two genera are known: Stenocolus LeConte, with a single species from western North America, and Eulichas, with 20 species from the Oriental region. The recent paper by Jach (1995) summarizes much of what is known of the family.
Crowson (1973:237) was the first to use the name Eulichadidae, apparently as a replacement name for Lichadidae Forbes (1926:102), which was based upon the preoccupied generic name Lichas (Lawrence and Newton 1995).
