Haliplus (Neohaliplus) bistriatus Wehncke 1880:72

Type specimens

Type in the Sharp Collection, but not located by Watts (1988) in the British Museum (Natural History) nor the Paris Museum. Type locality: Australia, South Australia, Adelaide.

Synonymy

None. Note that Haliplus bistriatus sensu Guignot, proposed as the type species of the subgenus Phalilus, was a mis-identification of Haliplus bistriatus Wehncke. Guignot corrected this with the replacement name Haliplus oberthuri Guignot.

Distribution

Australia: wetter areas of Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania. Possibly also from Queensland and the Northern Territory (Watts 1988:27).
