Welcome to the Board of Natural Resources and Conservation (BNRC) Web site!

The BNRC is the body which governs the three Scientific Surveys and the Waste Management & Research Center, which are divisions of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in the Office of Scientific Research and Analysis (OSRA).

When and where is the next meeting?

The next meeting will be hosted by the Illinois Natural History Survey on January 11, 2008 at the I-Building, main conference room, 1816 South Oak Street, Champaign, IL. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Who are the board members?

The board shall be comprised of the Director of Natural Resources (or the Director's designee), who shall be chairman; the president of the University of Illinois, or his or her representative; the president of Southern Illinois University, or his or her representative; and one appointed expert each in animal biology, geology, engineering, chemistry, and plant biology, qualified by at least 10 years of experience in practicing or teaching their several professions.

Appointed members of the Board shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate.

The Surveys and Center are Divisions of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

DNR's mission is to manage, protect and sustain Illinois' natural and cultural resources; provide resource-compatible recreational opportunities; and promote natural resource-related public safety, education, and science. By exploring DNR's website, you will learn about how you can enjoy the natural wonders of our state, purchase a fishing or hunting license, tour our state parks, link to exhibits at the state museum, or become a citizen scientist to help monitor Illinois' environmental quality.
