RESEARCH INTERESTS AND CURRENT RESEARCH

My research interests are in the broad areas of aquatic ecology and the use of ecological theory in solving problems in applied fisheries management. Specifically, I am interested in predator-prey interactions, the role of predators in controlling community structure, trophic dynamics in aquatic systems, optimal foraging, bioenergetics modeling and its use in fisheries management, behavioral ecology of fishes, and bioeconomic modeling of fisheries management strategies. I have worked on, and am interested in, a variety of aquatic systems including large rivers, streams, lakes, reservoirs, and ponds. In addition, I have a strong interest in laboratory experimental work as a way of determining underlying mechanisms of field patterns.
