I am currently the Office Manager of the Illinois River Biological Station (IRBS). Some of the things that go with this title are: accounting procedures (balancing accounts with University of Illinois Account Services), accounts payable, order supplies, answer phones, greet visitors, take attendance, turn in hourly time cards, type vouchers and forms, filing, word processing of research proposals, manuscripts, reports, and correspondence, fill out monthly vehicle reports for all vehicles maintained at LTRMP Havana Field Station. I also mange all personnel files, process any changes in employee records and salaries. I maintain and update a reprint library and computerized bibliographic database at the Forbes Biological Station and IRBS Havana Field Station (two separate library databases). I also maintain and update a photo database in Portfolio and maintain and update this website. I am responsible for all inventory that is located at the Illinois River Biological Station, this involves inventory for University of Illinois, State of Illinois, and U.S. Geological Survey federal inventory items.

Since January 1996, I have also handled the Great Rivers Field Station LTRMP accounting, payment of their invoices, travel vouchers, attendance, hourly time cards, word processing of research proposals, and personnel files.

I am married to Ed Smith and have three children, Bryan, Angel, and Shane, and five grandsons, Ian, Ethan, Alex, Evan, and Parker, and one deceased granddaughter, Sophia. I am the cook for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Havana, serving monthly dinners, breavement dinners, and annual Christmas dinners for local business. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, reading camping, traveling, cooking and spending time with my grandsons.
