Traveling Science Center

A new Illinois Natural History Survey mobile classroom is available to visit schools and communities north of Interstate 80 in Illinois.

The INHS Traveling Science Center, a 320 square foot mobile classroom, features informative panels on Biodiversity, focusing on Illinois.

Students will learn about the types of habitats, species diversity, and geology of their region. Other topics include exotic invasive species and stewardship. Activities are available to extend the Traveling Science Center educational experience to the classroom. Check here for dates and locations of events that are open to the public.

The Traveling Science Center is available to visit schools, park districts, and other organizations. For important information regarding visits, please review our policy statement.

For more information, or to schedule a visit to your facility, contact us at:

tsc@inhs.uiuc.edu or phone 224-234-0199.

Teachers, if the Traveling Science Center is scheduled to visit your school, please complete these surveys.

Major funding for the INHS Traveling Science Center was provided by ComEd.

For small communities and Illinois schools in rural areas south of Interstate 80, check out the INHS Mobile Science Center.
