Forbes Biological Station

 

The Forbes Biological Station, located outside Havana, focuses on studies relating to waterfowl, wetlands, and the Illinois River environment.


Great Rivers Field Station   The Great Rivers Field Station in Brighton gathers environmental and biological data on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers as part of the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program, sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Illinois River Biological Station  

The Illinois River Biological Station in Havana gathers environmental and biological data on the Illinois River as part of the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program, sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.


Kaskaskia Biological Station

 

The Kaskaskia Biological Station is located on Lake Shelbyville near Sullivan, and serves as the base for fisheries research conducted on Lake Shelbyville and throughout the state.


Lake Michigan
Biological Station

 

The Lake Michigan Biological Station, located in the North Unit of Illinois Beach State Park near Zion, focuses on research and outreach to improve management of Lake Michigan fisheries, to understand the ecology of the lake, and to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species.


Lost Mound Field Station

 

The Lost Mound Field Station on the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge near Savanna conducts research to guide prairie and savanna habitat management and restoration.


Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie

 

The Midewin Field Station on the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie north of Wilmington conducts research to guide prairie, savanna, and wetland management and restoration.


Ridge Lake
Biological Station

 

The Ridge Lake Biological Station at Fox Ridge State Park near Charleston focuses on fisheries studies.


Sam Parr
Biological Station
  The Sam Parr Biological Station is located by Forbes Lake near Kinmundy, has 27 experimental ponds available for fisheries research.
