Biodiversity in Illinois is not a curriculum, but is a sequence of 8 activities designed to supplement biology textbooks and other materials on the environment. It is designed to help young people become aware of the vast array of life that inhabits the Earth, especially Illinois. The activities indicate the value of biological diversity and demonstrate how humans interact with other organisms and the environment. Teachers of grades 5-10, as well as Scout, 4-H, and other youth groups, will find the easily adapted for a variety of ages. They can also be used as projects for cooperative groups of four or five youngsters instead of assignments for individuals. Indeed, several activities will be more successful if tackled by groups rather than by one student working alone.

Biodiversity in Illinois: Activities for Young People includes a slide set of 40 images with script and captions to accompany these activities. The activites and slide set may be purchased individually or as a set.
