| Activities | Advise staff on human resource issues such as: benefits, professional and hourly searches, FLSA, safety, adherence to policy and procedure, payroll issues, personal issues that may interfere with work, workplace accidents, etc. Conduct annual laboratory safety inspections and provide instruction for improvement and compliance. Consult with superiors to provide department functions engaging all personnel, resulting in a more unified coordination of effort and overall enhancement of motivation. Develop protocols regarding current safety issues within the Survey, i.e. lab safety, severe weather safety, basic building safety, workplace safety, etc., including lab inspections and building walk-through for planning purposes. Coordinate online training and workshops for employees such as IACUC compliance, sexual harassment training, lab safety, and chemical safety; update employee records when training is completed. Assist employees with Workman’s Compensation issues, and ensure accurate reporting of Employee Injury Reports. Act as liaison between Claims Management at UI and employees. Chief HR representative for the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center. |
