Research
Research Emphasis
Cellular and molecular aspects of insect development; the insect immune system; arthropod-microbial interactions in soils

Courses Taught
NRES 312 - Biology of Soils

Other/Principal Activities
I am currently involved in several research projects dealing with cellular and molecular aspects of insect biology:

1. Molecular characterization of olfactory binding proteins of insect antennae
2. Specialization of midgut cells for pheromone synthesis in bark beetles
3. Development of a rapid and specific immunological method for analysis of mosquito blood meals
4. Surface proteins of insect hemocytes that mediate the cellular immune response of insects to parasitoids and other foreign bodies
5. Microbes found in alimentary tracts of soil arthropods and their roles in nutrient cycling
