Systematics of flowering plants, particularly Acalypha and other Euphorbiaceae, with an emphasis on phylogenetic studies using morphological and molecular data and on taxonomic revisions.

Recognition Jesse M. Greenman Award, 1987. Presented by Missouri Botanical Garden for best plant systematics paper published in 1986 based on a doctoral dissertation.
