Activities I am interested in developing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems that limit insect and mite damage to horticultural crops. My current research is focused primarily on 1) understanding the interactions of soil-borne pests, including fungus gnats with their natural enemies under different watering regimes and growing medium, 2) determining the effects of pest control materials on natural enemy behavior and foraging, and 3) evaluating the use of trap crops in managing western flower thrips in floriculture production systems.

Research
Insect-plant interactions; effects of plants on natural enemy foraging behavior; testing new pest control materials; compatability of pest control materials with biological control; the ecology of fungus gnats and their natural enemies in floriculture production systems
