Activities My primary activity is making sure that library users have access to the information they require for their research and studies and that people know where to find it.

I would like to bring to your attention two online primary library tools for finding current library resources for the natural sciences. The Illinois Natural History Survey Library Resources page, (http://www.library.illinois.edu/nhx/) will provide the links to essential resources that will help you with your research. There are links to online catalogs, full text journals and resources, pertinent literature databases, reference resources, library services, other libraries, new books and journals issues arrivals, and tools and guides tailored for INHS scientists.

The Library Orientation Guide, (http://uiuc.libguides.com/INHSlibrary) provides the how, what, and where of specific library resources such as online catalogs, finding journal articles, RefWorks, Finding Dissertations, IDEALS repository, borrowing, other libraries, etc.

The library currently is in a state of flux. With the formation of the Prairie Research Institute Library the libraries from each Survey and Center are combining their collections and many new materials are moving to the library space in the Forbes Natural History building. The INHS portion of the Prairie Research Institute library collection includes over 70,000 books and bound journals providing national and international coverage on all aspects of Natural History. There are approximately 650 current journal subscriptions. The Prairie Research Institute library's holdings are part of the University of Illinois Library's on-line catalog. We also maintain databases that contain the records for all of the INHS staff publications and technical reports. Other unique collections include a set of Wetlands Maps, the INHS photograph archive, rare books and archival materials.

A number of services (http://uiuc.libguides.com/content.php?pid=104179&sid=783724) are available to our library users and I am always looking for new book and serial recommendations. Please do not hesitate to contact me for help or to answer any questions you may have.
