STEMS

Stems serve to lift a plant’s leaves up towards the sunlight. They are different from roots in that they contain nodes and internodes.

Nodes are the point of attachment of the leaves

Internodes are the areas between the points of attachment of the leaves.

Just like plants have roots modified for specific functions, they also have stems modified for specific functions. There are many examples of modified stems in the grocery store:

Celery Stalks
