Gentiana saponaria (soapwort bottle gentian) [Gentianaceae, Gentian Family] in Illinois, this plant is much less common than Gentiana andrewsii and is found mostly in moist sand savannas

Geranium maculatum (wild geranium) [Geraniaceae, Geranium Family] not a prairie plant, but a spring woodland wildflower, sometimes also found in savannas
Geum canadense (white or wood avens) [Rosaceae, Rose Family] a woodland rather than a prairie plant compare the fruits of this species with those of Geum triflorum. In G. canadense the achese has a persistent style that is hooked in order to attach itself to the fur of passing animals (or the pants legs of hikers!).
