This website presents a chronological list of publications by Dr. Gordon Enoch Gates, a world-renowned terrestrial oligochaetologist. Please note that some of these citations may be incorrect, having been obtained from other bibliographic compilations. Every attempt will be made in the near future to verify the accuracy of these citations through comparison with the actual publications. Additions and/or corrections to this list are requested; please forward them via E-mail to both Dr. John W. Reynolds and Mark J. Wetzel (our E-mail contact information is provided at the bottom of this website).
Libraries associated with research and educational institutions have printed as well as on-line access to journals, serials, and other periodicals published worldwide, including those that have ceased publication. On-line sites for assistance with full titles for abbreviations of publications include:

> Journal Abbreviation Resources on the Web {University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign}
> All that JAS {Iowa State University}
> JAKE - Jointly Administered Knowledge Environment {Yale University School of Medicine}
and
> Zoological Record Serials List {BIOSIS} [specific abbreviations for serials not included here].

Abbreviations of publications, followed by their full title citation, are also provided in the section ''Index Auctoritatum'' [Appendix II] at the back of Nomenclatura Oligochaetologica [N.O.] - Editioni Primae (Reynolds and Cook,1976), and its supplements: N.O. - Supplementum Primum (Reynolds and Cook,1981), N.O. - Supplementum Secundum (Reynolds and Cook,1989), N.O. - Supplementum Tertium (Reynolds and Cook,1993), and N.O. - Supplementum Quartum (Reynolds and Wetzel, 2009, in prep).

Nomenclatura Oligochaetologica is a catalog of names, descriptions, and type specimens of the Oligochaeta, and includes an introduction in six languages (English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese); glossary; nomenclator sections for all genera, subgenera, and species of oligochaetes; and indexes for 1) authorities, 2) full titles of books, journals, and other publications in which descriptions of new taxa have been presented, and 3) contact information for museums in which type material has been deposited. In addition, each of the supplements includes addenda and corrigenda for each section of the first edition and the preceding supplements.

Please visit the Nomenclatura Oligochaetologica website for additional information on this series.
