MEGADRILOGICA

Welcome to the website for the journal, Megadrilogica.

Megadrilogica publishes papers on the ecology, physiology, taxonomy, and systematics of terrestrial Oligochaeta (Annelida) - commonly referred to as megadrile oligochaetes, or simply 'megadriles'. The journal will also consider publication of papers focusing on other groups of terrestrial, freshwater, estuarine, and marine Oligochaeta. Megadrilogica first began publication in September 1968. Each volume comprises 12 issues, with one to four papers per issue.

This website provides the visitor with contact information for Dr. John W. Reynolds, Editor-in-Chief of Megadrilogica, instructions to assist authors in the preparation and submission of manuscripts to be considered for publication in this journal, the cost for a current subscription to this journal, and information for the purchase of past volumes / issues. A hyperlink to a cumulative index for all volumes and issues of Megadrilogica published to date is provided HERE and in the site navigation bar, below. Soon, we will compile and present an annotated guide to pertinent literature to assist biologists in their study of megadrile oligochaete worms.

Publication Schedule and Subscription Information: Megadrilogica is an irregular publication -- a given volume (12 issues) may be published over a period of time that is less than, or greater than, a calendar year; this is dependent upon submission, review, and acceptance of manuscripts. The current (2007) subscription rate is USD $40.00 per volume, and USD $7.00 for single issues. These subscription rates may be higher if one or more lengthy papers are included. Please contact Editor Reynolds prior to sending funds.

Instructions for Authors: Authors of manuscripts who wish to have them published in Megadrilogica should: 1) follow the format of recent issues of the journal when preparing their manuscript, and 2) secure one or more independent reviews of their manuscript prior to its submission to Editor Reynolds for consideration; authors who do not have English as their 'native' language must secure a review and assistance from one or more colleagues who do speak and write fluently in English. Most papers published in Megadrilogica are in English; papers in French and Spanish are also welcome, as long as an English abstract, and resume in French or resumen in Spanish (as applicable) are included. Abstracts in other languages are also encouraged, particularly when pertinent to the region of focus by the manuscript (viz., abstract in Greek for a manuscript focusing on the lumbriculids of Greece). The inclusion of six to eight key words is also required.

By following these suggestions, authors will be assured a more timely review process by the journal's editorial board prior to acceptance for publication. The Editor-in-Chief, after consultation with the journal's editorial board, will make the final decision regarding the suitability, scientific worthiness, and acceptance of manuscripts submitted for publication.

Page Charges: Page charges (text) will be USD $40.00 per printed page; a surcharge of USD $50.00 will apply to pages with colour figures. Authors of papers published in Megadrilogica will receive 25 reprints without cost; additional reprints can (and must) be ordered from the editor before issues go to print (with cost of additional reprints dependent upon number requested, and page length of paper).

Editorial Board of Megadrilogica: Dr. John W. Reynolds, Editor-in-Chief (contact information below), and Associate Editors Dr. Catalina C. de Mischis (Facultad Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Córdoba, República Argentina), Dr. Donald F. McAlpine (New Brunswick Museum, Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada), and Mark J. Wetzel (Illinois Natural History Survey, Champaign, USA).

Specific questions regarding manuscript format (including those associated with figures, graphs, tables, photographs, and photomicrographs) should be forwarded to Dr. Reynolds via *E-mail.
